One Planet York CIC is a collaborative movement of organisations and individuals working towards a sustainable York
Encouraging active, social, meaningful lives to promote good health and wellbeing, including working with all the businesses and organisations working in healthcare to reduce their carbon footprint.
Creating safe, equitable places to live and work which support local prosperity and international fair trade; including working with local small and medium sizes businesses to help them report their carbon reduction and other sustainable measures.
Nurturing local identity and heritage, empowering communities and promoting a culture of sustainable living, including working with museums and performance venues to help them measure and reduce their carbon footprint.
Helping local agricultural businesses, farmers and individual gardeners in protecting and restoring land for the benefit of people and wildlife in sustainable ways.
Helping local businesses and non-profit organisations to use water efficiently, protecting local water resources and reducing flooding and drought.
Promoting sustainable humane farming and healthy diets high in local seasonal organic food and vegetable protein. Supporting local organisations that are working for food justice and against food waste.
Supporting small businesses and larger anchor organisations to find ways to increase low carbon transport, encouraging walking, cycling and easily accessible public transport.
Supporting local organisations to procure materials from sustainable sources and promoting products which will last longer and reduce their carbon footprint.
Helping local organisations to reduce consumption. Aiming to achieve zero waste and zero pollution by re-using and recycling.
Helping to make buildings and businesses energy efficient by procuring their energy from renewables, including lighting, insulation, and with energy conservation.

The objects of the Company are to carry on non-party political activities which benefit the community and in particular (without limitation) to
a. taking a leadership role in education and mentoring organisations and groups in York and surrounding areas about One Planet Living Principles.
b. supporting the members and membership organisations, as part of the overall aims of increasing biodiversity, improving living within One Planet Principles for all York residents and aiming for Carbon Neutral Status by 2030 in York. Including but not limited to: collecting relevant information about carbon footprints and supporting measures to increase biodiversity and soil health, and balance the water cycle.
c. generate One Planet Living initiatives, engage with any related local actions (public, private or not for profit) which follow the same aims and objectives, in order to share information and best practice.
